Working Artists of Ventura

The WAV is home to 54 live/work lofts and gallery. The WAV Community provides affordable living space for artists; individuals and families and those seeking affordable rent. The community is committed to attracting creative individuals and families from diverse artistic and cultural backgrounds. The WAV Community is especially interested in individuals who are committed to building community and will give some of their time and energy toward this goal. Visitors are welcome to walk through the campus anytime, or stop in at the gallery or cafe during open hours. Come by on First Friday to experience open studios.

The residential units have large, flexible floor plans, high ceilings, large windows, and durable surfaces to accommodate a variety of creative disciplines. The residential lofts serve individuals and families earning less than 45%, 50%, or 60% of area median income (AMI). Rents are based on income level, size of family, and apartment size; i.e. one, two, and three-bedroom.

The WAV Community Resident Selection Criteria and Process

When openings do occur the following Resident Selection Criteria must be followed very carefully for all WAV Artists Loft applicants. Fair Housing Laws require Management to use the same criteria for determining eligibility for all applicants. There are no exceptions. WAV Community is a 100% Tax Credit property and must follow Section 42 of the IRS Code, along with all Calif. Tax Credit Allocation Committee rules.

The WAV Artist Lofts provides 100 units of affordable housing with a tenant selection preference given to Artist households who participate in, and are committed to, the creative arts. Each artist will be interviewed by a panel of artists.
